About the Role   

This allied health professional is an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team providing, planning and delivering comprehensive, high-quality care to patients/ clients of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) in order to support management of their health needs and to promote wellness. The role is to support and develop the early career AHRGP physiotherapists’ competence, skills and networks required for sustainable rural practice in rural locations to provide a flexible physiotherapy service that meets the needs of the rural community and optimises patient outcomes. The AHRGP aims to provide access to appropriate and quality allied health services in the rural locations that are developed in a supported and structured way (see also The position is responsible for ensuring a range of high-level assessment, therapeutic and preventative physiotherapy services are delivered within the scope of the early career physiotherapists and according to relevant models of care, priorities and MLHD CORE values.


About Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD)

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) spans over 125,000 square kilometres across southern New South Wales, stretching from the Snowy Mountains in the east to the plains of Hillston in the northwest and all the way along the Victorian border. Griffith Base Hospital is a 119 bed facility with 100 hospital care beds and 10 maternity beds. Each year we support approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 600 births. We provide a 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) with 15 ED spaces supported by an Intensive Care Unit and is also equipped with telehealth cameras to connect the team in Griffith with specialists across the NSW Critical Care Advisory Service. A $250 million redevelopment of the Griffith Base Hospital is underway. Main works features the new Acute Services Building, which will be built to the north of the existing main hospital building and will include: - A new emergency department - New services including Aged Care and Rehabilitation beds - New operating theatres - Medical imaging - Outpatient care to include expanded – renal, oncology, Hospital in the Home, clinics and outpatient rehabilitation gym - A clinical link to the adjoining private hospital.
